There’s a touch of the Ernest Race about the new Drew accent chair at Made.
That certainly isn’t a criticism, as I’m quite partial to anything in the spirit of Ernest Race. Which is what this is. It doesn’t look like any Race design in particular, but it does have a look of that era of British modernist design.
That’s perhaps down to the high backrest, the slim metal frame and legs, as well as the rounded plywood armrests, all lovely features on their own, but all the better together. Indeed, this looks like a designer chair without the designer price tag.
You can pick up the Drew chair in two colours, which are teal and slate grey, with both offered with the option if a matching footstool. Great for kicking back after a long day at work.
Of course, the stool doesn’t come free. That’s another £99 you will need to find on top of the £349 for the chair. But as I said, this is still a reasonable price for something that looks every bit like an obscure midcentury classic.
All are available at the Made website right now, where there might well be a discount code too (there usually is).
