Plenty of options for retro walls these days, but I think the midcentury modern wallpaper range by Spoonflower is currently my favourite.
It does two things very well. It brightens up a room and in adds in an unashamedly retro finish at the same time. That’s pretty much all I want of a wallcovering.
Plenty of options too, just as long as you are a fan of the 1950s or midcentury modern design. Having read so far, I’m guessing that’s the case for you (as well as me).
Oh and not just your average wallpaper. Each design is custom printed in a choice of choice of Spoonflower’s smooth water-activated wallpaper or woven peel-and-stick wallpaper. But what they do have in common is that the wallpapers are fully removable, which makes it a good option if you happen to be renting, in student accommodation or you just like to change things around on a regular basis.
I have picked out a few of my favourites, but please do have a look for your own. We all have a different eye and of course, different homes to decorate.
At the top of the page is the Atomic design and working our way down the page is Atomic Boomerangs, Space Age, Midcentury Mint, Midcentury, Diamond in the Rough, Ballastic Green Blue Orange and finally, Astroboy.
As for pricing, that’s tough as it is based on the amount you need. But sections are priced somewhere between £8 and £71, with swatches also available from the maker. Not that the company is based in the US, but they do ship to the UK and elsewhere too.
One last thing too. It isn’t just wallpaper. If you see any of the designs you like and you think you can make something of them, each one is also available as fabric too. See the retailer’s site for the full details of that range.
