Based on a garment from a cult war movie, the Alpine Smock by Lancashire Pike is also a pretty cool design for the autumn months too.
From the label that brought us the Harry Palmer raincoat comes another 1960s classic, this time a cold weather coat inspired by the smocks worn in the classic 1965 war movie The Heroes of Telemark. That movie was set in Norway and this is the kind of vintage outerwear worn during that era and in that climate.
Not some mass-produced item either. The Alpine Smock by Lancashire Pike is a bespoke garment, hand made and made to order. So the chances of seeing someone in one is fairly slim (although not impossible).
Each one is produced using a double-layered L24 Ventile and is finished with elasticated cuffs, cotton draw-cords and a velcro fastening map pocket.
Colour choices are navy, a stone finish or a limited edition blaze orange if you want to stand out more from the crowd. As I said, it is bespoke, so you might want to factor that in if you want one for when the temperatures (that means order one quickly). As for the price, you are looking at £390.
