If your passion for design carries through to the kids room, then check out this Alfi midcentury modern bench bed at La Redoute.
Yes, this is pretty much a ‘high street’ design, despite looking like a rather cool designer piece. La Redoute’s home section has a track record for that kind of thing. In fact, I would go as far to say that La Redoute is probably the best place right now to buy midcentury modern pieces at reasonable prices. Have a browse, there really is a lot of it.
But before you do – and if you have a child’s room in need of something in the bed department – please do have a look at this one.
It looks like nothing else on the market right now. In fact, it looks like an original US midcentury modern design from the 1960s. the kind of thing you might expect to see in Mad Men, for example.
It’s a shame to hide it away in the kid’s room really. But that’s pretty much its place. As for its purpose, that’s for sleep for a younger child, with the bed and its slatted base doubling up as seating (with the addition of a cushion or two) and indeed, a play space during the day as well.
No mattress included, but that’s not unusual when it comes to buying a bed. I would guess the mattress size is pretty standard in terms of a child’s bed.
In fact, the bed size is 90 x 190cm and the price, if you like the look if it, is £399 officially. But as ever, there is a deal on at La Redoute, so you can take 30 per cent off that asking price right now.
