When it comes to modernism for the home, these Tia Bauhaus-inspired rugs by John Lewis and Partners are certainly worth a look.
Yes, Bauhaus at John Lewis. Don’t get me wrong, I love John Lewis and a good number of its designs But I really didn’t expect to find some design pieces inspired by the Bauhaus movement.
Not that it says Bauhaus anywhere on the page. John Lewis describes the rugs simply as having a ‘bold yet versatile geometric design’. Which is absolutely true. But those shapes really do bring to mind the Bauhaus movement, which might well impress your design-loving friends. Especially in the year we celebrate 100 years of the Bauhaus movement.
Take your pick from two colour schemes, both using the same pattern, which is a move of squares and a larger circle.
The rug itself is a quality piece too. Each one is hand tufted and carved in India and constructed from pure wool for what’s described as ‘an indulgent feel’.
It will add both colour and a talking point to a room and if you have a muted colour scheme in a room, this will definitely be a great focal point.
The size is L120 x W180 cm and the price is £280.
