Not the biggest range, but everything in the Yucca midcentury modern furniture range at Maisons Du Monde is interesting.
Maisons Du Monde does have a knack for producing interesting midcentury-style furniture with a look straight out of the original era. Just leftfield enough not to look like a pastiche of the real thing. The Yucca range is typical of that and great if you want a 1950s vibe for your home.
There are four pieces in the range, the pick (for me) being the six-door shelving unit at the top of the page. But let’s not talk down the rest, which is the sideboard, the TV cabinet and a rather hip dressing table design.
The shelving unit brings to mind the iconic String shelving system from 1949, but also the Watford shelving produced by La Redoute of late. Saying that, I think the MDM version has more authenticity than the La Redoute one, although the Watford shelving offers more configurations for the home and office. It’s down to personal taste.
The shelving unit is a mix of black metal and acacia wood, with bags of shelving and those retro cupboards offering plenty of storage potential.
If you want the sideboard, that has two cupboards doors and three contrasting green drawers, along with some tapered wooden legs. It matches up well with the TV unit, which is made from solid acacia and has holes for your wires and drawers/shelves for your media.
Finally, there is that eye-catching dressing table, with the long tapered legs, two drawers and a retro mirror on top.
All are available now, although some are low in stock. In terms of the pricing, the shelving unit sells for £1,369, the sideboard is £799.50, the TV cabinet is £574 and the dressing table is yours for £472.
