You don’t often see designs like this on the high street. So let’s talk about the Anthea art deco-style king size bed at Made.
Art deco is incredibly popular right now. In fact, every house I list on WowHaus in that style has huge numbers flocking to it. The problem with many of those houses is an interior that doesn’t have the same period appeal as the exterior.
That’s partly because some owners want a modern interior, while others probably don’t want to pay big money for original art deco designs for the home. Yes, you are looking at big money too.
Thankfully, retailers are now producing designs that capture the spirit of that era without the ‘vintage’ prices. I have featured a few on these pages. including a drinks cabinet from Marks & Spencer, a deco mirror from Next and a bar trolley from Swoon Editions to name just a few things. But never a bed.
So if you are looking to kit out an art deco space or just want the spirit of the jazz age in your home and in particular, your bedroom, check this out.
The bed is made of powder-coated steel with brass joints, using a design that offers both the curves and the flourishes of the period. That really is some headboard.
Sadly, this looks to be a standalone piece rather than a full bedroom range, which is a shame. A few other related designs would have been perfect. But I’m still not complaining as this is something of a rarity and for a bed, £349 isn’t a bad price.
In fact, it’s just £299 if you want a double instead of the king size.
