Don’t go shopping around for it anywhere else, as this Mary Quant 1960s-style tote bag at the V&A Shop is an exclusive.
A rather lovely one too. It has been produced to coincide with the current Mary Quant – The feminist of fashion exhibition at the V&A but as far as I know, this isn’t a remake of an original 1960s or 1970s design.
But it is a bag that has been created exclusively for the V&A under licence from Mary Quant. So we are talking a quality piece with a good degree of authenticity.
As for the design, it is inspired by Mary Quant’s bold use of colour, a key part of many of her designs. If that doesn’t give it away, the ‘daisy’ logo on the front almost certainly. That’s a huge selling point for fans of the design or the swinging sixties.
But this isn’t something to buy and hide away. This is a bag for using every day. It’s made of heavy duty canvas with long handles for carrying over the shoulder and a zip front pocket for your everyday bits and pieces.
You don’t have to travel down to the V&A to get one, although that’s definitely a trip worth considering right now. Instead, just order one online. The Quant bag is available for £25.
