In fact, if retro design and the beautiful game are your thing, this could be perfect. Especially if you support a team playing in claret and blue.

But the watch itself is the star of the show. as the title suggests, this is based on a vintage watch design worn by referees in the middle of the 20th century.

It has a cream face sat within the stainless steel case, which is covered by domed acrylic crystal and detailed with three-quarter colour blocking representing 45 minutes. Yes, half of a football match. Finally, you get the Timex and Nigel Cabourn branding within.

But that’s not quite all. As you can see from the photos, you get both a vegetable tanned leather strap and a bonus woven strap. The latter is coloured in claret and blue, as is the rather cool pouch the watch comes in.

That’s a nod to Nigel Cabourn’s upbringing in Scunthorpe, where the local team plays in those colours. But if you happen to support another team that does – I’m thinking West Ham, Aston Villa and Burnley off the top of my head – then it might well have appeal there too.

If you want one, this is a limited edition available to buy now, with a price of £139.
