A space-age classic, but a pink 1960s Artemide Nessino lamp has never been available to buy before. You can get one now if you are quick.
Not available before because this is a limited edition lamp and colour, which is exclusive to just one retailer.
As you may know, the Nessino is the smaller variation of the 1967 classic I first wrote about on this site way back in 2008. Yes, back then articles were shorter and more to the point if you want to compare and contrast.
The 1967 original was the work of Giancarlo Mattioli, with the smaller version introduced back in 2006. The Nesso lamp is 34cm high and has a 54cm diameter, but the Nessino is 22.3cm by 32cm, which makes it a better fit for smaller rooms and of course means it will be a little easier on your wallet too. Even as a limited edition.
The design itself has barely changed over the decades (you will be pleased to know). A design if its era, this is still a ‘go-to’ design if you want that space-age vibe in your home. The body and diffuser are made of polycarbonate, offering a lovely atmospheric glow when you flick the ‘on’ switch.
This pink version is part of a celebration of retailer Made In Design’s 20 years, with 20 new designs being offered for sale over the coming weeks, all of them numbered, limited edition pieces. A pink Nessino would have been a selling point anyway, but throw in exclusivity and these are likely to fly off the shelves.
But the limited editions are still available right now, with each one selling for £123. That’s the same retail price as the other non-limited versions, so quite a bargain too.
