I spotted this Dansette-inspired table lamp by Tutti Audio some time back. But at a much lower price, it has far more appeal.
Not that it’s a cheap option now, but it is available at around half the price it was some time back. Perhaps they have managed to work out a way of producing it more cheaply or maybe the maker/seller has just gone for a more sensible price point. I really don’t know. I just know it’s a lot cheaper.
That’s a good thing of course, but it’s the design itself that has always been the selling point.
Tutti Audio has been mentioned before on these pages. You might recall the Dansette colour-changing lightbox featured a short time back. In fact, the company has a thing about there Dansette, selling restored versions of original Dansette record players too. Yes, there’s definitely a theme and a love for the classic 1960s record player.
That’s shown in this offshoot design. Each lamp is handmade in small quantities, with the lamp base produced by a furniture master craftsman to mimic the look of a vintage record player, not least with the vintage volume-style knob that acts as a dimmer/on-off control, the branding, the use of traditional speaker material and the braided cloth mains cable.
It sits on tapered legs and is topped with a fabric shade produced and designed by Lizzie-May Amos inspired by the original era and record players.
A lovely thing and now, much cheaper. You can pick one up for £195. Note that if the link says sold out, check the seller’s other items as new stock is constantly uploaded once the limited stock sells through.
