A very cool option for your vinyl and record deck, but the Draper 1960s-style media console at Urban Outfitters is tough to get hold of.
Why? Well, that’s simple. The Draper is being sold in the US version of the Urban Outfitters store. That particular store has a much stronger home and furniture range than other regional stores. Not least the UK one.
So if you want one, you need to be looking there. Great if you are in the US (and I know this site has a lot of US readers) but not so great if you are outside the US. As far as I know, they don’t ship internationally.
That’s the main reason why this unit didn’t make the cut in my top 20 retro record and vinyl storage units round-up. If there was an option to ship overseas I would definitely have featured this stylish, 1960s-inspired unit.
Of course, the name ‘Draper’ hints at the Mad Men look this design goes for. The kind of design you would expect to find in a hip living space in the first half of the 1960s. Good looking and ultimately functional too.
Sleek lines, a sliding fabric front, vinyl storage racks with wire dividers and cupboard space within and a good amount of surface for display or a reasonably-sized record player.
Those shelves are adjustable by the way and if you want to stick your record player inside, there’s a hinged top with space for one, not least because of the adjustable height setting. Finally, cable management too plus some lovely tapered legs with brass plating.
All of which is impressive, especially when you see the price. $299 for this, which converts to something like £228. Great if you can work out an affordable way of shipping this across.
Hi, just wanted to point out that Urban Outfitters’ US site don’t ship big items like this internationally (such a shame!). Only clothes really, I think.
