Shoes or boot? I’m not sure. I’ll just say that the 1960s Adidas Basket Profi basketball shoes are returning to the racks.
Not for the first time. That briefly reappeared back in 2012 after a considerable break. Considerable because this old school basketball shoe first appeared back in 1969. A smaller break since the reissue, but it is eight years since this one was available to buy new.
It’s something of a minor classic as well. A trademark Adidas shoe of days gone by, but a more substantial one, as you expect of a basketball shoe. Mid-cut is the official description of this one I think.
Adidas has gone to town with this reissue too, bringing back four old school shades that work well with this vintage style. You can see all of them on the page here, with all available to buy right now.
As for the style, each one has a suede upper, textile lining, rubber outsole and that mid-cut shape, with the three stripes on the side, a contrast heel, indentations to the toe and side plus gold branding also to the side. Everything you would expect of a vintage Adidas design.
Fancy a pair? As far as I can see, this 1960s design is only available directly from Adidas so far, with a pair selling for £69.95. They might appear at other retailers over the coming weeks, but the price is likely to be pretty much the same wherever you shop for them.
