Just over 40 years on, the Adidas The Sneeker trainers are back on the shelves once more.
Actually they were back on the shelves around 2010, when The Sneeker was available in various colours and finishes. But it disappeared after that and I haven’t seen it offered for sale for a decade or so. But two colour options have just appeared.
It’s very much a shoe of its era. That era being 1979 when The Sneeker was offered as an all-round, no-nonsense training shoe. I think that no-nonsense approach has allowed this shoe to stand the test of time and still look pretty sharp today.
Well, depending on the colour you go for. Personally I think the white with blue detailing is the top of the tree here. But you might prefer the grey/blue finish of the alternate colourway. Each to their own.
As for the design, that’s generally faithful to the 1970s original, with added perforations to the upper in both versions to keep your feet cool this time of the year.
You get a leather and synthetic upper with those perforations, a ‘grippy’ outsole and branding to the tongue and heel. A minor classic.
If you want a pair, all sizes are available now, with a price of £75.
