Fans of modern design will be adding the Dieter Rams: The Complete Works book by Phaidon to their Christmas lists.
Or you might just want to buy it before. Personally, I can’t wait. This looks like an absolute dream for fans of Rams, of which I am certainly one. I spend a lot of time scouring eBay for obscure Rams designs. This should make that job a whole lot easier.
Phaidon describes this as ‘the ultimate reference on one of the most influential product designers of all time’. It’s a substantial hardback book, taking in 344 pages and with 300 illustrations, cataloguing all of the products produced by the hugely influential German designer over his extensive career.

But this is the first time a ‘catalogue raisonné’ of every product he has been behind has been compiled and made available. Yes, those amazing record players are going to be here, but I suspect quite a few surprises we didn’t know about too.
