It might not be as obvious on the high street, but Habitat is still around. And producing designs like this Zora 1970s-style pendant light.
Even better, this partcular design has just dropped into the sale.
I should do a round-up of retro designs at Habitat as there are quite a few in the current range – and a good number marked down. But in the meantime, let’s focus on what is, for me, the star of the current show and a light fitting I want in my house as soon as possible.
It’s a wonderful design that mixes a classic midcentury Scandinavian look with a deep shade of green that you might associate with the 1970s. It is part of a larger and growing range of retro pieces that take inspiration from that era going by the name of Citrine. if you want to explore them, you can see what is available now right here. Brown and green are very prominent shades.
As for there Zora, this is the kind of light that would look great over a dining table, but is also flexible enough to work in your living room, your hallway or even your bedroom too. Personally, I have an eye on this as a feature light in the hall.
The three layers are constructed from olive green-tinted glass, matched up with a black ceiling rose.
If you don’t like the 1970s as a design era then this is probably not for you. But I love the bold idea of that particular decade and as I said earlier, can’t wait to pick one up.
Originally selling for £160, this is is now in the sale and available for £120, So quite a saving.
Just online (and likely in other Habitat outlets too) the light fitting sells for £160.
