It looks like an archive piece from decades back. And that’s pretty much the point with this Adidas Retro Pop One Watch.
From the old-school logo to the colour scheme and the overall design, this is a timepiece that screams the 1970s. I don’t think this is from the archive, as Adidas didn’t really (if at all) produce watches back in the ‘70s. But you get the idea that if they did, they would look like this.
Described by the maker as ‘vintage and modern’, there are three colour options available, but I have focused on the gold and olive finish because, in terms of a retro look, that’s where it’s at. But you can see the other colours below if you want something a little more subdued.
I love the shiny nylon strap, which works well against the stainless steel case with an embossed logo. The logo is on the old school face, too, with the inner workings powered by a Japanese quartz movement.
Yes, you could pay a small fortune for something like a Tag Heuer Monaco for period authenticity, But if (like me) you don’t have that kind of cash, then something like this might just work instead.
