A strong Goodfellas vibe about the newly-launched Velzy 1960s-style knitwear at Far Afield.
I’m all for that, too, as it’s a strong look, especially as the days get longer and the temperatures start to rise. You need something that looks good but also keeps the chill off in the evening.
The range is from Far Afield, a small, independent label that always does interesting designs and although bot always retro, there are usually retro pieces within. Like these.
The Velzy design covers a few different finishes, but for me, it’s the stripes that catch the eye. It adds an extra retro layer to a top that already has a strong hint of the mid-1960s about it.
There are two variations on the striped finish, with one based around the colour green and the other with a brown background. But the design, colours and stripes aside, is much the same.
A classic short-sleeve, full-button cardigan with a block colour collar, sleeves, placket and hem, seven buttons to the front and what’s described as a ‘classic’ collar.
Each one is made of 100 per cent organic cotton, and the fit is described as ‘true to size’. But do check the size guide before ordering to make sure it is true to your size.
If you want to be seen in one of these, the price is £95.
