I’m not sure if they’ll arrive in time for Christmas, but I love these David Bowie handmade knitted dolls by Kutuleras.
I love a knitted doll. There’s something unique and homely about them compared to a mass-produced item. And that’s the thing: Each one is unique. Each one is made to order and no doubt differs ever so slightly from every other one produced.
And that’s not the only difference. Yes, each one is a David Bowie doll, but not every doll has the same design.
You can take your pick from a Bowie from different eras. So go early Bowie dressed as Ziggy or a pirate, with later looks also available, such as the Thin White Duke, Ashes To Ashes and even Bowie in Labyrinth.
Or create your own ‘Under Pressure’ double act by going for a Bowie with a Freddie Mercury, complete with standout teeth. That’s right, there are other dolls available (should you fancy a Robert Smith, a Slash, a member of Queen or an Elton John, for example), but the Bowie dolls are at the heart of the collection.
Each one is around 11 inches tall (so just short of a school ruler for comparison), and each is handmade with some lovely little touches whether that’s the swept-back blonde hair of Station To Station Bowie or the eye makeup of Ashes To Ashes Bowie.
Each is a joy and would work for kids as novelty dolls or grown-ups who love Bowie or whoever you go for. Yes, one is on my Christmas list.
Fancy one? As I said, delivery might be tight for Christmas now, but if you want to chance it, expect to pay just over £50 for one.
