Not just old school, with these 1950s Adidas Samba trainers, we are going back to the very first pair on the shelves.
Well, not quite. But these are a premium reissue inspired by the first-ever Samba design from 1950, and for both of those reasons, it’s a desirable shoe, albeit a touch pricey.
Pricey because of the premium materials and the limited edition run, but also because this is one of the few styles available currently being made in Scheinfeld, Germany.
Ultimately, this is aimed at collectors. But it’s also an incredibly good-looking piece of retro footwear. If you love a Samba, you’ll undoubtedly be all over this, especially as it’s unlikely to be remade again.
As I said, a design based on the 1950 design, which you can compare and contrast with the current Samba OG. Similar, but different you would probably say. Similar because this is a Samba, but a slightly more refined and streamlined version.
The shape harks back to mid-20th century shoes like the Adidas Italia, with a premium leather upper, some white stitching to the front, a white sole, contrasting white details and the gold branding to the side.
As part of the package, you also get a limited edition box and a nice cloth bag for storage. But all of that adds up. £160 if you want a pair.
