If you are looking for a midcentury modern vibe, then this La Redoute x Formica retro kitchen range might be for you.
It is very much a going concern in the 21st century, but there’s something of a bygone era about both the word Formica and the look it produces. Mix that with some design from one of the best mainstream retro retailers out there, and we have a winner for the kitchen.
The range is a collaboration to celebrate the 110th anniversary of Formica. Yes, it has been around that long. The brand has teamed up with La Redoute to create the Quillan collection, which brings together that lovely green finish with some light oak, as well as some understated but very retro design inspiration.
I’ll be honest: I’m looking at buying some for our kitchen. The colour works, the design sits well in that space, and it’s also very functional too. If you have the space, all well and good – but I can see the island unit and the bistro table working well against a well if space is a little more limited.
Talking of the designs, you get to choose from the island unit I mentioned, a wonderful retro sideboard/storage unit, a bistro table, an extendable table and a choice of stools or seats to go with it. Good looking and practical, which is pretty much what everyone wants for their home.
As you might have guessed, this isn’t in the sale, but there is usually a discount code going on at La Redoute – and right now, there’s 10 per cent off if you visit the site with the relevant code (handily listed there).
But before the discount, you are looking at £875 for the extendable table, the same for the island unit, £1,550 for the sideboard, £599 for the bistro table, and £375 for two chairs. Presumably a limited edition collection, so don’t hang about if you want it.
