Based on a cult look of the 1970s, this northern soul-inspired bowling bag by Adidas is an interesting new arrival.
As you have probably worked out, this is the Adidas take on something it was very much part of back in the day – although I suspect the company at the time had little or no knowledge of it. Customising a sports holdall.
A small holdall was essential for a northern soul allnighter, and if you were heading to the likes of the Wigan Casino or the Golden Torch, a classic sports bag decorated with patches with your soulful adventures was as much about you as the clothes on your back or the movies you pull off on the dance floor.
Adidas created a tribute to this customised bag in its SPZL range a couple of years back—the Parbold holdall—which was both pricey and available in very small numbers. This is more affordable and not quite as limited, although it won’t be around for long.
This time Adidas has gone for a mini bowling bag, decorated in vintage patches as a tribute to the concept and the era. Available only in red, the bag is made of structured polyurethane leather with metal accents, has the classic Adidas logo front and centre and is small enough for daily use, but big enough for your essentials.
Only available directly from the maker, it sells for £85.
