Marking five decades of the two teaming up, the Adidas x Argentina 50th anniversary collection is retro sporting heaven.

Well, it is if you like the idea of owning some old-school Argentina sportswear. These nostalgic collections don’t always get it right, but this one does.

And it gets it right by not trying too hard. This is all about heritage and keeping it simple, subtly reworking the classics. The lack of detail is the selling point compared to the busyness of modern-era football clothing.

The original Adidas Trefoil logo is at the fore, as is the national football emblem. Outside of the classic colours of blue and white (and two shades of blue for the training gear), that’s pretty much it.

The clothing within the range does, of course, include the classic football shirt, which is a mid-1970s-inspired top with the famous stripes but brought up to date with moisture-managing Aeroready and the use of recycled materials. That sells for £85.

Beyond that, there’s the track top, track pants, downtime (aka training) shorts, some socks, and a version of the classic Adidas three-stripe t-shirt. Depending on what you are going for, all of that retails up to £90.

It’s all available now at the Adidas website and is, as you might have guessed, a limited edition range.

Note that there is a kids and a women’s version of the football shirt, too.
