Looking for something ‘60s or ‘70s without breaking the bank? Have a look at the budget space age lighting at Atomic Orange.
That title pretty much tells the story: Space-age lighting that looks straight out of the mid-20th century, but without putting a dent in your bank account via an auction house.
Because this type of lighting goes for big money. I’ve bought some bold Guzzini lamps in the past (specifically, some amazing Brumbury lamps) and they look amazing. But there have been problems with the old wiring and the bulbs, plus the worry of damaging them and being unable to replace them without another hefty outlay.
That said, if you can afford an original, it’s likely a good investment. The price for these lamps isn’t showing any sign of going down. But if you can’t, then have a look at the range at Atomic Orange.
The designs are a mix of familiarity, with some looking not unlike design classics, and some inspired by designs from the past but without enough uniqueness to set them apart.
As you might have guessed, orange is a strong theme. You might recall I did a 20 of the best orange table lamps round-up a while back. I could probably list a similar number just from this retailer.
You get an idea of what is currently in the range by looking down the page, with many currently in the sale, which is another bonus. And if you sign up to the maker’s newsletter, they’ll take another 10 per cent off.
The Guzzini-like Bosona Lamp at the top of the page is available for £99, the Cujam Lamp and its tulip base is £39, the Pincoya Lamp below it is £49, the rather familiar Mimosa Lamp is £39, and the Tangra Lamp below that is currently £49.
Other designs available too. You can check them out at the Atomic Orange website.
